Ranking between Social Networking and CMS

Filed under: Stuff — admin @ 8:04 pm

In today’s highly competitive world, one cant survive without choosing any of these two. But both of them have ranked higher in alexa. I have always wondered if I see some “Content” sites ahead of Social Community sites.

I know that Social Community gets traffic just from the users who have registered there and there is no wonder in them ranking better.

But how do “Content” Websites get better alexa rank. The answer is very simple and indicative. Yes they got their rank because of their “content”. I have seen many people dont waste their time in social networking, but rather search for many new things over this internet. Probably you should add me to that list.

The traffic generated from Search Engines had made them to rank better.

As a rule of thumb,

Social Networking sites gets traffic from its registered users, whereas,
Content Websites are getting “Equally good” traffic from Search Engines.

Both these forms of traffic are almost equal, numercially !

Top 5 Traffic Driving Sources For My Website In 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 1:57 pm

You write everyday on your blog but if no one comes to read what you have wrote then how bad it would be. In todays tough competition age opportunity is same for everyone. In past people were never social like today. What todays social media has done for us no one can describe it completely.

Today I am going to share with you my top 10 sources of driving traffic to my website, I hope you will like, these sources I have chosen with the help of Google analytics.

1) Google search:
Maximum traffic comes directly to my website of homepage so I am not including this but after direct traffic Google is my top traffic source, which is organic traffic, it is about 20% of total.
What is Google?

It is better to read about it at Wikipedia.org or google it yourself.

2) Stumbleupon:
Stumbleupon is offbeat for me because it is not a regular source of traffic but when traffic comes, it comes in bundles.
What is Stumbleupon?

“StumbleUpon is A social networking application that, through a StumbleUpon toolbar, lets you “channel surf” websites and review them”

“StumbleUpon discovers web sites based on your interests, learns what you like and brings you more.”

3) Twitter:
Twitter is third! Twitter brings traffic, it is recently started working for me.
What is Twitter?
I think it is the most answered question on the web, because people answer it without asking.

“Twitter is the micro-blogging service.”
“Social networking and microblogging service utilising instant messaging, SMS or a web interface.”

4) Indianpad:
Indianpad is not so good for all of my contents but Bollywood related stuff brings traffic.
What is Indianpad?

“IndianPad is a user edited bookmark of news stories related to South Asia.”

5) Blogcatalog:
Blogacatalog brings me traffic in two ways, by broadcast and by search.
What is blogcatalog?

“Blog Catalog is the premiere social blog directory on the internet. Search, Browse, Rate and Review thousands of blog sites.”

Two types of scripts

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 6:11 pm

For all those newbies who are searching for various “Scripts” here is a great guide for you. There are two types of scripts, they are Client Side and Server side scripts.

Your site should use a combination of both these scripts to survive in this competitive world.

Client side scripts are resolved at the Browser, whereas the Server side scripts are resolved at the Webserver.

Undoubtedly, Client side scripts work faster than the Server side scripts. Server side scripts involve with updating the Database, whereas the Client side scripting is involved with the type checking and other warning messages which are purely handled by the browser.

No website has come out with using only one script, but they have known the ratio of using them.

If you come to know this “Golden Ratio” then you are the king in Web-designing !

PageRank for Profiles

Filed under: Stuff — admin @ 8:18 pm

Probably some 3-5 years later, you could hear two guys speaking “I have got a PR-6 profile” and the other replying “I have got a PR-7 profile”.

Google has registered a TradeMark for this. Google well known for its Page Rank for sites, has also entered in calculating the page rank for profiles. And in this competitive world, you should register a trademark for all the things which you find. Or someone else will go and grab the rights for that.

No one needs to teach Google about the trademarks. It is well known for it.

Google is going to start another concept. Lets all wish Google for success in this innovative idea.
